about us

Innovation means novelty and change at the same time. We have both in our focus, because they are absolutely necessary basics for today's animal husbandry in order to be able to operate them in a species-appropriate and sustainable manner. For this market in particular, TrophoSYS GmbH develops innovative technologies and products that make a significant contribution to improving animal welfare, human nutrition and the global resource situation.

The meat and dairy industry is subject to global challenges that are driving the industrialization process forward. The development of technologies that are not harmful to health is essential in this branch of industry and the primary goal of our product developments.

Building on this orientation, the company strives to provide the urgently needed alternatives, especially for the rearing of cattle and pigs, in order to enable responsible use of resources in compliance with basic ethical rules and the renunciation of genetic manipulation interventions.

Our projects

After a very short time, the first successes can be seen and it is already evident today that the combination of entrepreneurial experience and scientific expertise is the best basis for a positive project. In connection with the high-quality network of partners, the prerequisites are always given to realize the implementation quickly and yet with high quality.

Solutions for cattle breeding

The innovative technology from TrophoSYS enables the gender-specific separation of bovine sperm in a completely new mix of properties for cattle breeding. In the current proof-of-concept stage, more than 90% of the sperm can be separated into female and male cells with almost native cell health and a high yield.

The basis of our technology is, on the one hand, the use of different surface properties of the respective cell species and, on the other hand, the use of specially developed auxiliary substance concepts that significantly increase the differentiation of these surface properties. The actual separation takes place in an electrical field, which cannot have a negative effect on cell health or even genetic manipulation.

Solutions for pig farming

The success of the separation technology previously designed for cattle has meant that TrophoSYS has already started with preparatory measures to expand the technology concept to include pigs.

Pig farming is extremely interested in a functioning gender-specific separation method. The male offspring are usually castrated due to problematic consequences during rearing, and at the same time globallyuntilToday, the castration of piglets without anesthesia, which is becoming less and less accepted by consumers, is mainly used as an avoidance strategy.

In Germany and in more and more countries, this method was and is prohibited by law. However, alternative methods such as anesthesia, hormonal interventions, etc. are problematic.
In contrast to the solutions currently available on the market, the separation technology from TrophoSYS is a method that can in principle enable effective and economical separation.

Our goals

With its innovative projects, devices and processes, TrophoSYS not only wants to write an economic success model, but also contribute to improving the nutritional situation while reducing emissions by using new technologies.

The company has set itself the goal of developing a separation technology with the following properties:

Highly effective and capable of high throughput

No impairment of cell health

No use of genetic engineering techniques

Inexpensive

Location-flexible use

Application at the customer on-demand.

In this way, consistent implementation by the end customer enables targeted breeding, which results in exactly the end product that is required. The farmer in the dairy industry breeds the necessary cows, the pig farmer does without the problematic male offspring, as does the producer of buffalo milk, etc.

The consequence of the new alternatives for animal breeding is that the same output can be achieved with much less breeding effort than today, since the rearing of unwanted offspring is simply avoided. This in turn also meets the requirements with regard to climate targets, since fewer animals also mean less feed and space requirements as well as less CO2, methane and faecal production.

TrophoSYS is thus developing urgently needed processes that serve both animal welfare and the climate, as well as greater efficiency and profitability, thereby allowing the farmer to manage his stock sustainably and carefully.

In summary, the new technology for handling the resources means a significant improvement with:

Less Co2 emissions

Less land and water consumption

Less faeces

More animal welfare

More efficiency

More sustainability

More responsibility for the future of future generations!
