ERDF Thuringia
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is a funding instrument of the European Commission for all regions of Europe, aimed at compensating for differences in development.
The ERDF addresses the needs of the regions. These regions use this opportunity through operational programs to overcome region-specific structural weaknesses. Among European regions, Thuringia is one of the so-called transition regions and must therefore invest 60% of the fund's resources in the following priority areas: research and development, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and reducing CO2 emissions in all sectors of the economy.
Bioeconomy Research Association
The Bioeconomy Research Association (FBF) is an association of companies and associations active in animal breeding, insemination, and performance and quality testing in cattle and pigs. Its goal is to foster close collaboration between science and practice. To this end, the FBF participates in extensive collaborative projects and also awards its own research contracts.
Friedrich Schiller University Jena
The Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a clearly defined classical university with currently over 18,000 students, including over 2,400 international students.
In Jena, nothing is far away. You can live in the countryside and be in the city in just a few minutes – and vice versa. Boundaries are fluid – both urban and intellectual. Short distances in Jena are also figuratively speaking: through personal contacts between scientists and with those responsible in the city and business. This allows research and teaching projects to be launched quickly and easily – and creativity can run free. Many Jena scientists confirm that there are no mental boundaries here, and they use this for innovative projects across disciplines.
